AMVETS and Auxiliary newsletter for Post 777 in Norway

AMVETS and Auxiliary #777 December 2016 Newsletter
Commander’s Corner:
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed their turkey and football. Now that Black
Friday shopping is done its time to turn our attention to 2017. We have new things on the schedule such
as Texas Hold Em the first Friday of every month starting in January. We are in the process of working on
all the permits we need for this venture.
I am hoping everyone will be able to make it to our December meeting which is 12/1/16 to start at
6:30pm there will be no dinner.
I would respectfully request that all elected and appointed officers attend the December meeting to discuss an important matter that will affect the future of the post.
All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. We also need to decide on the menu for Breakfast with Santa which is December 11th we will start serving at 8:30am.
We also now have a new email address for the post which is and the post now has a cell phone which will be handed over to each new commander that is elected. That number is 207-595-7423.
I would like to welcome our newest members to the post:
Mike Johnson our newest life member
Bruce Hamilton
Michael Smith
If you have not paid your dues, please do so we are 3 people away from obtaining 100% renewal.
In January, we will pass out the calendar of events for the year. The easiest way to remember is the 1st
Thursday of every month is our monthly meeting, the first Friday of every month is the Texas Hold Em,the 3rd
Sunday of every month is the Auxiliary Brunch and the fourth Saturday of every month is oursupper.
Lastly, I attended the Western Maine Advisory Committee on November 16th and they had election of
officers for the board. I was nominated and elected as the Chairman of the Western Maine Advisory
Committee for 2017. This is a great honor as the committee is responsible for sponsoring many of the
activities and fundraisers for the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. Our committee is the envy of the
Maine Veterans Home system as we have the largest VSO and volunteer organization. We should all be
proud of this accomplishment and what we do for our veterans and our community.
Yours in Service
Commander Dennis Durant
