Happenings in Post 13 in Durham ME

The Lincoln E. Clement AMVETs Post 13 is proud to announce our 2nd Annual SSG Thomas Field Memorial Ride and Fund Raiser. SSG Thomas Field was born and raised in Lisbon Maine. He joined the Army shortly after High School. Sadly SSG Field lost his life during the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. SSG Field and 17 other soldiers were killed during the battle which was depicted in the movie Black Hawk Down. We are raising money to fund local scholarships in SSG Field’s Honor as well as build and maintain a “Veterans Assistance” Fund for local vets in need and to fund trips to area veterans homes, once we are up and running with that plan. We are happy to announce that we were able provide 3 scholarships to local graduating students of the graduating class of 2017 in Lisbon, Durham and Freeport. I am reaching out this year our fellow veteran’s organizations in hopes of your support. We would like to invite any and all veteran motorcycle riders to ride with us this year. We are asking a $25.00 donation per bike so please put this out to your membership in any way you can. We would welcome any direct support in the form of a donation from your organization as well.
The ride is scheduled for Saturday August 26th departing our hall in Durham ME and terminating at L-A Harley Davidson for live music by Whiskey Militia and food provided by Pedro O’Hara’s. There will be a silent auction stage as well. Sign up will begin in Durham at 10am and the ride will depart for L-A Harley Davidson at 12:30. For any questions please do not hesitate to call me at 207-713-8544.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Darin Baker, Finance Officer
